On behalf of BONESUPPORT, we are recruiting a Pre-Clinical Scientist.

As a Pre-Clinical Scientist, you will help build and lead BONESUPPORT’s in-house pre-clinical expertise, shaping study design, scientific interpretation and cross-functional insight to support the continued development of innovative bone graft solutions.

BONESUPPORT™ AB is a leading Scandinavian biotechnology company based in Lund, Sweden. BONESUPPORT™ AB aims to become a global leader in Ortho biologics by optimizing bone biology to treat bone disorders. BONESUPPORT ™ AB develops and commercializes innovative injectable bio-ceramic bone graft substitutes that remodel to the patient’s own bone and have the capability of eluting drugs. BONESUPPORT’s bone graft substitutes are based on the patented technology platform CERAMENT.

This is a new role within the organisation, with a primary focus on in vivo pre-clinical studies, including animal studies conducted through external partners. The successful candidate will provide scientific leadership in study design, protocol development, endpoint definition, interpretation of results and integration of data from imaging, histology and other study outputs.

The role is particularly relevant for a scientist with strong experience in pre-clinical in vivo research, bone biology, bone remodelling and resorption. Experience from orthopaedics, biomaterials, implant research or infection models would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities

• Leading the planning, design and scientific oversight of pre-clinical studies

• Developing both performance and safety in vivo models

• Designing study protocols and defining endpoints, analysis strategies and sample handling requirements

• Working closely with external test houses, CROs and animal study partners

• Interpreting radiographic data, including X-ray and micro-CT

• Evaluating bone samples through histology, histopathology and histomorphometry

• Preparing scientific documentation, reports and presentations

• Supporting the development of BONESUPPORT’s broader pre-clinical capability

• Contributing to cross-functional project work and early research activities

We are looking for a structured, scientifically rigorous and independent individual who can operate as an internal subject matter expert. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, good scientific judgement and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.

A relevant advanced scientific background is required, for example within veterinary medicine, bone biology, skeletal biology, biomedical sciences or a closely related discipline. A PhD and/or research background from academia would be advantageous.

The position is based in Lund, where regular on-site presence is expected. Flexibility may be considered for the right candidate. English is required; Swedish is not required.
