Haeger& Carlsson executive Search and Interim is supporting the Swedish biotech and AI company Mavatar AB, to find their new Senior Commercial leader, who will play a key role in the company’s commercial growth journey.
About the company
Mavatar is a Swedish biotech and AI company focused on precision medicine. The company develops digital disease models using AI, bioinformatics and molecular data to advance the understanding of diseases and enable more personalised treatments.
At the core of Mavatar’s technology is its proprietary DINA (Deep Integrated Network Analysis) framework, which analyses biological data directly to generate insights beyond traditional text-based methods.
Mavatar commercialises its technology through:
Mavatar Discovery – a research platform for pharma, biotech and academia
Mavatar Precision – a clinical platform for digital patient simulations
Mavatar Collabs – project-based collaborations with pharma and life science organisations
With a recently launched platform and strong market interest, Mavatar is now entering a phase of commercial expansion.
The role
This is a hands-on, high-impact business development role, with a clear focus on building and closing collaboration agreements within pharma and biotech.
You will take ownership of the full commercial process – from initial dialogue to signed agreement – engaging directly with senior stakeholders such as CEOs, R&D Directors and board members.
The role requires a unique combination of scientific understanding and commercial capability, with the ability to operate credibly in discussions related to drug development while driving negotiations forward.
This is not a traditional management role. It is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, leading discussions and ultimately driving deals to closure.
Key responsibilities
Drive the full sales cycle – from lead generation to closed agreements
Develop and execute commercial strategies for Collabs partnerships
Convert ongoing dialogues into commercial agreements
Engage with senior decision-makers across pharma and biotech
Lead complex deal processes across multiple stages (dialogue, feasibility, proposal, closing)
Collaborate closely with internal scientific and technical teams
Build and expand long-term client relationships and partner networks globally
Contribute to shaping Mavatar’s commercial strategy in a growth phase
Your profile
We are looking for a senior and highly credible commercial profile with a strong track record of closing complex deals—and with the scientific understanding required to operate within drug development.
Requirements – drug development
Deep understanding of the drug development process
Ability to communicate credibly with scientists and research leaders
Understanding of regulatory frameworks and clinical development
Insight into the drivers and incentives of pharma and biotech companies
Experience within areas such as clinical development, CMC, toxicology, or bioanalysis
Preferably understanding of omics data and advanced biological datasets
Ability to confidently navigate between science, business and strategy
Requirements – commercial
Proven ability to drive and close complex deals
Strong negotiation skills and business acumen
Ability to build trust with senior decision-makers
Documented success in managing long and complex sales cycles
Additional requirements
Fluent in Swedish and English
Willingness to travel (Sweden and internationally)
Valid driver’s license
Preffered background
International sales experience within pharma, biotech or research-driven environments
Experience from senior commercial roles such as Business Development, Commercial Lead or similar
Experience from growth companies or entrepreneurial environments
MD, PhD or similar background is a strong advantage
